TASTE OF FINE FOODS
Thousands of visitors enjoyed the finest fare which Mallorca has to offer during the most important gastronomic event in the Balearic Islands cuisine calendar.
Palma Arena was full of the sight and scent of traditional cuisine from the popular sobrasada sausage to soups, fish and desserts. About 20 restaurants, 10 bodegas and top chefs ensured this year's Mostra de Cuina Mallorquina (Mallorcan food fair) was again a resounding success. Arabella Sheraton Golf Hotel, Son Vida, the Balearic Islands hotel school and top wine producer Jose L Ferrer were among the firms taking part.
For a small price, visitors could enjoy dishes from some of the island's top restaurants and hotels, including a new twist to many traditional dishes. They could also learn how to make several meals for themselves through the daily cookery demonstrations.
Between events, food lovers could graze on snacks such as the region's finest breads, plumpest olives and tastiest ice-creams.
Spanish restaurant Provenzal, part of the Golden Door chain, served a special Mallorcan dish of pike with pine nuts and raisins, which won praise from restaurant critic Guillermo Soler.
A special event was held which provided to be a real pleasure for those who appreciate fast and distinctive sports cars.
Thousands of enthusiasts enjoyed a day out at the Palma Boat Show where they could take a look around some of the smartest new yachts enjoying their premiere at the prestigious venue.
